There is a need to address the question about Smart Nav and Smart Nav Plus.  The easiest way to determine whether you have the plus is to look for your AM/FM antenna connector.  If you have a standard Motorola-style antenna connection, you will use the connector BT ISO DIN.  This connection is found further down in the wiring.  Follow the wires from the old connector about 6-8inches down, and you should see two 8-pin connectors.  This is where our BT ISO DIN will plug in.  If you don't have a Motorola-style connector for your antenna, you have the 1st version of SmartNav and use the SmartNav + Ant Adpt or the SmartNav + Ant Adpt. PLUS, that comes with a radio removal tool.

In the world of semi truck steering wheel controls that is no plug & play.  Yes there are stereos out there that work with steering wheel controllers where you are offered a specific version for a specific application.  With this type of kit you are given a detail of wire colors to help you match your application.  When it comes to semis nobody offers such a kit.  You will have to buy a universal kit and test the connection for the right wiring.  This will work if you get the right wire to the right wire.  A tech that knows hows to do this would be the one to go to so you don't damage any of the trucks wiring or components.  The other thing you might need to check is to see if your truck is a CAN BUS truck.  If it is the steering wheel controls are going thru the on board computer.  Radios that are built for CAN BUS application will automaticlly communicate with the steering wheel controls as well as sleeper controls.  We do sell on a sister site the Jensen offering that works on trucks that have CAN BUS controls.  The radio is called the JCV2015BT.  Works with some of the CAN BUS trucks that are using the same PROTOCOL.  It plugs directly into most of the newer trucks 2006 and up.  Take a look.  It might be what you are looking for. WOW.  Thats a new one.  I know a lot of truckers have had problems with the factory nav system.  Replacing it with another OEM unit is not the olny option.  We sell a lot of the SmartNav harness so they can use a standard Din radio back in place of the factory PACCAR version.  You will loose your monitor function.  With the amount of issues Kenworth and Pete drivers are having mabe this a a warning to get rid of the system.

You have 2 choices or actually three.  1st choice is to contact your local service dept for your brand and ask them for a wiring schematic.  2nd is to get a few test tools and go at it your self.  It can be done with simple tools and a common sense approach.  3rd and easiest way is to buy the mating harness for your truck and use it to wire the new radios pigtail to it.  All you have to do then is plug it in.  Easy right?

No aftermarket company is putting the Sat tuner inside the radio.  There is a reason for this and its heat problems.  Think why are all the manufactures doing this if it was not the smart thing to do.  Only the OEM manufactures are installing it inside the radio.  The complaints from customers of this style are the CD are very hot when ejected.  Heat is a stress facture and can cause many issues.  Maybe the OEM radios just like selling you new radios every 2 years.

The afternarket radios have a special plug on the back of the unit just for the Sat tuner.Once plugged into that connection, the radio acts as it would if it were inside the unit.  All control and all sreen functions.

If there are improvements in the Sat tech. then you can purchase a new model to plug into your aftermarket stereo or if you own OEM factory you can buy and new complete radio.

Since you asking a easy question I will assume there is some reason you have doubts.  So you must be talking about a SMART NAV system.  The answer is yes but you loose the screen and all the ifon that shows on it.  Left in place tocover the hole if removed you can replace the PACCAR radio with a normal DIN size radio.  We have a harness for this unique radio system.  We call it the SMARTNAV Harness. 

If this is not your application tyhen the answer again is yes.

The reason we don't do that is cost. The aftermarket harnessess are very expensive and are not standard.  Which means the aftermarket radios change harnesses every few years and on every model.  This would be very expensive to maintain a inventory of these parts when you have the pigtail already.  So what we do is offer you a service to send us your new radios harness and we will wire it to the correct one for your truck and ship it back to you.  Explained here.

You need to check with your truck service department to see if your truck is listed as a CAN BUS truck.  This means the trucks computer controls the radio.  If it does then the JCV2015BT will replace your radio and work the steering wheel controls as welll as the sleeper controls.

This sounds like a CAN BUS style truck in which the computer controls the radio.  Unlike standard vehicle applications wher you could buy a interface part to get back the issues, no such parts is available for the semi.  If that is all you lost that might be okay based on the only way to fix.  The fix is a Can Bus radio.  JCV2015BT plugs into the truck and maintains all your features.  Watch the video and see what is possible.

Works just like any other vehicle but harder.  Running wires is more difficult and time consuming.  Make sure you fuse the amps at battery 6 inches away to protect the truck from fire.  Use good stuff and pay attention to wire that can chaffe or virbrate.  Good Luck

harness to see if it is plugged into the mate we have on your radio,  as the pic shows.

You can tap off the rear speakers if you use the proper rated preamp adaptor.  This adaptor will change the speaker output level to RCA outputs. Hooking it will not have a factor on the origional speaker sound.

This would be the correect way although some amps will accept speaker line output as the source feed.  We there is a amp driving the speakers it is better to preamp the output.  Most all amp manufactures have filters built in to reduce noise on the RCA inputs.

Changing the speakers out can go either way.  Trying to install speakers that require a larger baffel to work in the specific opening would hurt bass quality.  The mids and highs would not suffer.

The year of the truck is more important that the model of a brand  If you don't see your model listed you need to pull the radio out to examine the connector. Send the pic to us and we might be able to ID it.  Also the harness you might be looking at is what we call a jumper harness,
